Climate action does not stop at national borders. This is precisely where the new partnership between Fairventures Worldwide and Klimaschutzstiftung Baden-Württemberg comes in: together, we are creating a way to connect global and regional climate action.
Companies, organizations, and private individuals can now double their impact with a voluntary contribution. While Fairventures supports the establishment of sustainable agroforestry systems in Uganda’s Hoima District, a matching contribution is also made to Klimafonds Baden-Württemberg. This founds supports regional climate action, including agroforestry on farmland, forest conservation, and the rewetting of peatlands in Baden-Württemberg.
Climate Action That Supports People and Nature
Smallholder farmers are at the heart of our work in Uganda. Through training sessions at our Farmer Field Schools, they learn how to successfully integrate trees into their farmland. Intercrops such as cocoa and vegetables provide additional sources of income alongside healthy trees. In the Hoima region, this benefits not only local people but also wildlife such as chimpanzees, whose habitats are reconnected. This creates long-term income opportunities and more resilient farming systems.
Reforestation Requires Maximum Transparency
A distinctive feature of our collaboration is digital single-tree monitoring. Using the TREEO app, every planted tree is recorded annually. Information such as its location and trunk diameter is documented, making tree growth transparent and traceable over time. This data also provides the basis for transparently and verifiably calculating the amount of carbon stored.
Through a dashboard, companies and organizations can monitor the development of the trees and transparently track the impact of their commitment.
Taking Responsibility Together
The cooperation between FVW and Klimaschutzstiftung Baden-Württemberg demonstrates how effective climate action can bridge the global and the local. While sustainable agroforestry systems are being established in Uganda to strengthen smallholder farming families over the long term, regional climate action initiatives are also being supported in Baden-Württemberg.
This creates an approach that does not limit responsibility to a single place, but instead connects global and local impact.
We are pleased to embark on this journey together with Klimaschutzstiftung Baden-Württemberg and to make a transparent and meaningful contribution to climate action. Because: Good forests are climate solutions!
