In mid-December, students and an editor from the Ludwigsburger Kreiszeitung took part in a digital encounter with Monalisa. Monalisa is one of the five climate witnesses in our educational project Climate Stories.

She told the class about the consequences of climate change in her home country, how forest fires are destroying the livelihoods of many families, and how much the climate has changed since her childhood. Monalisa lives on Borneo, one of the largest Indonesian islands, which is particularly affected by deforestation for products like palm oil.

But Monalisa is not discouraged -quite the opposite! Together with local smallholder farmers, she is working towards a fairer and more resilient future. You can find out what this looks like in the Erich Bracher School’s field report or in the article by the Ludwigsburger Kreiszeitung (paywall)!
