Awards for Climate Stories in 2024: Together for More Climate Justice!
Our project, Climate Stories, brings together students in Germany and young people from the Global South. The goal is to make the climate crisis more relatable by allowing those affected to share their stories, concerns, and hopes, motivating and encouraging young people to take action through their engagement. The focus is on the stories of the people – complimenting factual knowledge.

Climate Stories Wins the NRW Media Award 2024
In October, we received 3rd place in the NRW Media Award for development policy engagement! The award recognizes campaigns that reach new target groups through innovative, high-reach contributions, focusing on videos and social media. The laudation for Climate Stories was given by David Wortmann.
He emphasized that we meet the target audience exactly where they really are: “In the classroom, which becomes the place for digital dialogue. The ‘face-to-face’ exchange with peers from the Global South makes climate change suddenly feel real and personal.”
Additionally, we were honored to participate in the PRIO1 Climate Award ceremony in Heidelberg as one of seven nominated initiatives at the end of November. The PRIO1 Climate Award recognizes young people who promote creative ideas or projects for climate protection and sustainability. The award honors initiatives actively addressing the climate crisis.
The exchange with other organizations we met during the events strengthens our commitment to continue standing together for climate justice and advancing sustainable solutions.
Our Annual Review: 700 Participants Across Germany, Nearly 40 Workshops Held
As the year comes to a close, we would like to provide a brief update on our work. Since its launch in the fall of 2023, we have facilitated encounters between nearly 700 students in Germany and people from Egypt, Brazil, Uganda, and Indonesia in 39 workshops. We are especially pleased with the following feedback:
- 100% of teachers who have participated so far would recommend the project.
- 88% of participants now have a better understanding of the issue of climate justice.
- 75% can imagine getting involved in climate justice in the future.
