Over the past few years, Fairventures has grown from an idea and a handful of people into a vivid organization with numerous employees and a network of great people. But given the limited time we have to achieve our climate goals, that’s not enough. Now is the time to scale our approach and harness the potential of reforestation even more extensively.
The new structure of our management team reflects this intention. After many years as sole managing director, Johannes Schwegler is handing over some responsibility and will be supported by Megan King and Wolfgang Baum with immediate effect. Today, the two new members of this trio introduce themselves personally.
Megan King joined our team in 2019 and has been heading up Fairventures’ operations since last year. A native of the United States, she has called the Czech Republic home for over two decades. Since then, however, her international project work has taken her to many places around the globe for extended periods of time – unknowingly bringing her closer and closer to our project area in Borneo. Megan worked for different NGOs, first in the Middle East, then in the north of Sumatra and finally in Indonesia. In the future, she will mainly bring her experience in project management to the team.
Wolfgang Baum has been part of Fairventures since its founding in 2013. In the early days, he worked on-site in the project area and was significantly involved in setting up the project “1 Million Trees for Borneo”. In 2016, Wolfgang, who holds a Master’s degree in Islamic Studies from the University of Tübingen, moved to Berlin to focus more on fundraising. Since 2018, he has been Head of Fundraising and Communications at Fairventures. Meanwhile, Wolfgang lives in Nairobi and now completes the new trio in the management team.
In the video above, Megan & Wolfgang address a personal message to all friends and supporters of Fairventures.
