On the occasion of our Indonesian Country Representative’s visit in Germany,Panduh Tukat, we spent an exciting summer evening with our friends and supporters in the vineyards of Stuttgart on June 19.
Harald Wetzel, forest engineer and supporter of Fairventures, offered his vineyard as event location in Stuttgart South and was very pleased to see Panduh Tukat again and to welcome him in Germany. Harald already visited the 1 Million Trees program in Borneo at the end of last year.
A highlight of the evening was the tasting of the first chocolate creation that was made of Indonesian cocoa beans and peanuts from our program area. In April 2018, Eberhard and Michaela Schell from the Schell Chocolate Manufactory in Gundelsheim visited our program area in Indonesia. Father and daughter visited the timber plantations with intercrops of the smallholders, as well as the first test fields where cocoa seedlings had been planted. Back then, they took some Indonesian cocoa beans back to Germany and processed them to chocolate in the meantime. Also, peanuts, planted by the smallholders on their fields in the interspaces between their Sengon trees, were included in the new chocolate creation.
On the night of June 19, the two sisters Michaela and Agnes Schell brought the new creation and other exclusive chocolates and conducted a chocolate tasting.
„I am delighted with the taste of the chocolate and of course very proud about the fact that the chocolate is made of products of Central Kalimantan“, says Panduh Tukat.
The evening was a great opportunity to meet and exchange ideas as well as to discuss the current developments of Fairventures projects, both in Indonesia and Uganda.
