256 farmers participated in our trainings on establishment and caretaking for planted forests this year. The trainings were designed to be practice-oriented; thus they were held directly at selected fields. The farmers could watch the trainers and practice with the newly acquired skills immediately. The trainings focused on field preparation and caretaking, the establishment of intercropping systems and simple measures for soil improvement. Illustrated manuals were distributed to make sure famers can look up the lessons and repeat them in their own fields. The trainings took place at seven locations throughout the project area between November 9 and 13.
